I agree with you. The Da Vinci Code is really good and exciting. I don't think the critics are reasonable.

By the way, the Catholic attacks the book/film because it thinks that the author misinterprets the Bible. After I watched the film, I think the main reason of the attack was because the author brought up the dark history of the Catholic again:
1. The Councils of Nicaea
2. The Crusades
3. The Medieval Persecution

Compared with those facts, the argument about Mary Magdalene is just a drop in the bucket.
